Program Outcome 1: Leadership

            The ‘Leadership’ program outcome requires the student to apply leadership skills to professional nursing practice. Quality leadership skills can create a flourishing working environment, a virtuous culture of productivity, and compassion. A nurse with leadership skills creates a concise, clear direction, and effective management system that will benefit patients and healthcare team workers. The course discussion that allowed me to meet this program outcome was a course on   Leadership and Management in Nursing (NUR 415) titled the servant leader.  A discussion where I learned about the concept of the servant leader and its applicability to a nurse, who embraces the Christian Worldview. In the Christian Worldview, the concept of the servant leader is seen through Jesus Christ who regularly engaged in acts of service throughout his ministry. From this discussion, I learned that a servant leader constantly empowers and uplifts others (Maglione& Neville, 2021). More so, he/she is always on the lookout for the staff’s needs and actively helps employees promote their personal development and solve their problems. Finally, I learned that a servant leader fosters leadership in others, has an unselfish mindset, establishes a culture of trust, and encourages diversity of thought (Maglione& Neville, 2021).

Program Outcome 2: Scholarship

            The ‘Scholarship’ program outcome requires the student to integrate evidence-based practice and nursing knowledge while providing culturally competent care. Scientific knowledge and data from research serve as the foundation for nursing practice. In order to find solutions, research uses scientific questions. Without research, creating new protocols or action plans for problems that have been found would be difficult. Development, testing, and improvement of the gathered theories are the goals of the study. A learning discussion that allowed me to meet this program outcome was in the course Evidence-Based Nursing (NUR 440) titled Research and Evidence-Based Practice. This discussion highlighted what evidence-based practice (EBP) is and its significance in nursing. From the discussion, I learned that EBP in nursing is vital in the provision of competent care since it incorporates clinical expertise, patient preferences, and research evidence (Mackey & Bassendowski, 2017). Additionally, it allows a nurse to deliver customized patient care by determining the most effective course of action when delivering care to a patient. In the Christian worldview, EBP is essential in aligning nursing practices with patient beliefs.

Program Outcome 3: Communication

            The ‘Communication’ program outcome requires the student to employ interprofessional collaboration and effective communication for the improvement of client outcomes. Effective communication is crucial for managing healthcare delivery as well as for addressing patient requirements and delivering safe, high-quality and patient-centered treatment. A learning discussion that allowed me to meet this program outcome was the course NUR 440 a discussion titled communication and Research Utilization  I leaned during this discussion that. When communication has the desired effect, such as educating clients to aid in the management of their condition, easing client worry to enhance client well-being, or assisting in educating clients to encourage participation in decision-making, it is effective. In order to effectively communicate with patients, health practitioners must carefully examine not just the language they use, but also how they engage with them and the surrounding circumstances.  

Program Outcome 4: Character

            The ‘Character’ program outcome requires the nurse to demonstrate professional ethics and spiritual values from a Christian worldview when providing nursing care. You can create a winning personality by having a good character in health care delivery. In other words, a strong moral foundation forms the basis of a charismatic personality that draws the medical staff to a patient. A   learning discussion that allowed me to meet this program outcome was the course Principles of the Christian Worldview (NUR 450), a discussion on how ethics and morality in nursing align with the Christian worldview. From my research, I learned that any infringement on the rights of humans goes against the will of God, which is based on love for others. This means that as a nurse, I have to align my nursing practices with a strong moral and ethical standing. I should always do my best to cater to the needs of my patients without breaking any laws or practicing unethical behaviors that are contrary to the Christian worldview (Turale et al., 2020). Furthermore, by being ethical, I will treat all people equitably without favoring anyone.
