“Each of the 3 OT treatment interventions should be primarily 1) preparatory task, 2) purposeful
activity, or 3) occupation-based intervention (refer to revised rubric). You should have one of
each for the 3 OT treatment interventions (i.e. you should not have 3 preparatory tasks, but rather
one preparatory task, one purposeful activity, and one occupation-based intervention). But you
can incorporate various types of OT treatment interventions, but must be primarily one type. For
example, in the first OT treatment intervention, you may have the pt participate in the
preparatory task of participating in a clothes pin tree to increase shoulder flexion and lateral
pinch. But in the same OT treatment intervention, you can have the pt also participate in the
purposeful activity of hanging wash cloths on a horizontal clothes line to increase shoulder
horizontal abduction/horizontal adduction and trunk rotation.”

TREATMENT PLAN

Instructions:

You will need to implement 3 OT treatment interventions focusing on the STGs listed on the OT
evaluation, based upon the patient’s primary diagnosis. Use this form to complete your
assignment. The rubric is located on Canvas. Here’s an example:

Sample OT Treatment Intervention Pt participated in clothespin tree with 1# wrist weights,
reaching for clothespins waist level and placing
clothespins on yard stick starting at 45 degrees R
shoulder flexion, incrementally placing clothespins 1
inch up the yardstick till reaching 110 degrees of R

There is need to understand some risk factors that include keeping the patients updated about the
facts. Regular update from the WHO are also of great significance. The local authorities should
also provide local updates and education and especially with things such as staying home,
sanitizing and the maintenance of social distance. Other measures include aiding the local
authorities in human resource mobilization. Additionally, there is the need to liaise with the
individual volunteers. The approach enhances the contact with NGO’s and other local groups.

VIDEO

Your group is make a video of the OT treatment intervention session. Someone from your group
will play the part of the OT practitioner treating pt, displaying good professional behavior.
Another person from your group will play the part of the patient, displaying good appropriate
characteristics based upon the patient’s diagnosis. You have the option of making the video a
face-to-face session or via telehealth. The video should be no less than 30 minutes, but no more
than 32 minutes.

BROCHURE

Your group is to create a 3-Fold Brochure which provides your patient 1) background of
diagnosis, 2) discussion of common precautions, 3) advocates occupational therapy services, and
4) educates patient on local resources and/or support groups for the diagnosis. Make sure you
present and discuss the brochure to your patient during

SOAP NOTE

Finally, your group will write a SOAP note based upon the 30-minute OT treatment intervention
session. As important the S and O part of your SOAP are, the A part of your note demonstrates
that your OT treatment intervention is a skilled intervention, that only a trained OT practitioner
can perform. The OT treatment intervention should be related to a STG or LTG, so your
documentation should reflect that connection. Remember, document how the patient did as part
of your A note.

For example, you can document in the O note that patient participated in a clothespin tree
preparatory task, but it is more important that you document in the A note why the intervention
was done.
