Most companies have already invested billions of dollars in order to adopt green practices. This research aims to analyze the advantages of green practices to companies and how they can increase green practices in order to sustain their positive growth trends. Introduction After the Paris Climate change agreement and UN climate summit, there is an accelerated need for green practices whereby companies around the world, especially in developed countries, are focusing on adopting environment-friendly operations. Companies that have adopted green practices have several benefits, which include increasing their competitiveness and higher profits. Green energy focuses on replacing petroleum products with eco-friendly sources of energy, such as solar energy. These primary actions are to regulate harmful practices as much as possible in order to keep the environment healthy. Background of the study In 1990s companies around the world over-depended on fossil fuels to run industrial activities. This meant that petroleum producers would charge high prices, which led to the oil crisis. However, technology has been changing, which has created room for more effective energy sources. The government has also set standards that all companies should meet in order to remain compliant with environmental protection (Ekenga, et al., 2018). Another important factor is that in today’s world, clients possess knowledge on the impact of poor production measures on the environment. This means that companies do not have an option but to conform to green practices in order to remain operational. There are different types of green practices which are being used. It is expensive to set up some of them since it involves changing the current infrastructure in order to set up new systems (Guo et al., 2020). However, most companies have reported increased productivity levels after adopting green practices. Literature Review According to green theory, there are environmental consequences of collective choices in which people take part in; companies have exploited nature for their short-term personal gains without considering the negative impacts of their actions. However, they have been forced to adopt green practices (Mousa & Othman, 2020). Some of the most common green practices which are being carried include reducing emission gases during transportation. Companies are opting to use electric cars instead of over-depending on combustion engines. Solar power energy is also being adopted since it reduces the annual expenses which companies incur. In the US, the federal and state governments are offering tax incentives to companies that adopt solar energy. For companies to save on the cost of operations, most of them are opting to substitute fossil fuels with solar energy. Each company is also expected to monitor the amount of carbon dioxide that it emits into the environment. Solar panels do not emit carbon dioxide, which means that they enable companies to remain compliant to environmental standards (Green et al., 2018). Customers often face problems when it comes to disposing of waste. Companies which accept waste from customers in order to recycle them are likely to get return clients, especially those who care for their environment. Recycles wastes such as plastics enable companies to save on the cost of production since they possess readily available raw materials. Other wastes include cell phones and computers, which are no longer in use. Findings Green practices enable companies to reduce their expenditure when it comes to energy costs since there are low costs for companies that use solar and other renewable sources of energy. They also benefit from tax incentives that have been put in place by the government. It also enables companies to attract new customers and retain loyal customers, especially those who value their environment. Companies that are involved in green practices create a positive impact on society, especially when it comes to reducing the levels of carbon dioxide in the environment. Conclusion There are several benefits of adopting green practices in companies. Companies which take part in green practices are more profitable compared to those which still depend on only practices which are not environment friendly. They have a higher ability to retain and access new markets. They remain compliant with the law, which reduces losses that are related to failure to adhere to the set law. Summary The current world of industrialization is driven by efficiency. Green practices are key when it comes to attaining efficiency. The government has also set standards that each of the companies should achieve. Customers have also been educated on sustainable methods of production and products which keep the environment safe. This means that all companies are under pressure to adopt sustainable production methods in order to sustain their growth. Green practices are the only way to sustain the environment and reduce global warming, which is a problem in the current world. Recommendation There is a need to research the impact of using petroleum products to produce electricity which is used to charge electric cars. This is one of the most controversial areas, and more research should be done on better ways of ensuring that sustainable electricity is produced. This includes finding ways of generating more wind energy and other renewable sources of energy. Many of these wastes are non-biodegradable and thus form industrial landfills. Industrial waste is harmful, and when dumped in a landfill, it forms a chemical state of brown or dark color. The waste forms Leachate with a high concentration of ammonia, nitrogen, and heavy metals. It has other organic and inorganic polluting substances (Gautam & Kumar, 2021). The Leachate, if not treated, can contaminate water from the ground and the surrounding soil. Treating industrial solid waste materials is crucial to avoid contaminants polluting the environment. This paper highlights issues faced by industrial solid wastes regarding current environmental regulations. The first issue from industrial waste landfill regarding environmental regulation is expensive Leachate treatment. Leachate is a collection of solid waste materials and chemical substances, such as organic and inorganic constituents (Segundo et al., 2021). The concentration of Leachate varies according to the amount of organic and inorganic compounds present. However, the dumpsite for this waste decomposition is harmful to human health. Additionally, when rainwater is directed to the waste environment, the Leachate can be carried away to a different environment causing pollution to diverge. Therefore, the Ozone-based process is the possible solution to treat Leachate (Segundo et al., 2021). The process can either remove the color of the Leachate or disassemble organic compounds constituents in the waste. Another issue is the lack of proper treatment of waste in industrial waste landfill. There are assumptions of treating the less biodegradable wastes from several industries. Leachates with few or moderate organic materials have been left behind without treatment which causes harm to the environment (Martins et al., 2021). Issues have been raised about leaches, and environmental regulations have been set to ensure the treatment of the same. Biological and conventional are some of the processes to treat these Leachates, as well as physiochemical and oxidation processes. Environmental regulations insist that as long as the color and odor of the industrial chemical waste are present, treatment is inevitable from the landfills (Martins et al., 2021). However, it is important to treat waste before its disposing to landfills. A third issue raised concerns the constituents of metals in industrial waste products. The study has shown that metals such as Gold (Au), Copper (Cu), Cobalt (Co), Zinc (Zn), and Chromium (Cr) are highly present in Leachate emission (Krishnan et al., 2021). However, these metals harm human health and the environment due to poor disposal. Nevertheless, the contamination of such metals is harmful to other living beings. Therefore, it is important to concentrate on reusing, recycling and manufacturing to counter the emission of these harmful metals. The waste industries such as medical, petroleum, metal, and battery wastes should major on methods to prevent the emission of such metals. These include chemical, physical, and thermal processes. Firms should hire advanced technologies such as pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy to separate industrial waste metals (Krishnan et al., 2021). Discovering metal constituents in the waste materials and inventing ways to extract them is a critical factor industry should employ. The fourth issue is non-biodegradable waste constituents in industrial waste landfills. These types of waste spend more time before decomposing their chemical forms, which adversely affects living things. The-non biodegradable waste finds its way through soil or water and can be consumed by humans without their awareness (Siddiqua et al., 2022). The main issue remains to prevent these wastes from going through the soil and underground water or protecting the waste from the environment. Therefore, it is important to ensure that this kind of waste does not contact human beings or other living beings (Siddiqua et al., 2022). The landfill should be isolated from the surrounding by burying the waste in an engineered way. In summary, exposure to industrial waste has effects on human beings. Improper disposal of waste products affects the environment and human beings. Biodegradable wastes can cause health cases in the surrounding where the presence of metals such as Gold and Copper are harmful when consumed. According to the study, government agencies must guide both policies based on the product content and its utilization purpose. Although controlling environmental pollution caused by some packaging materials is a challenge, improving strategies to manage the waste by the government can help in the sustainability of waste material for the products, especially electronics and packaging materials that are not recyclable. Summary In the manufacturing of goods, packaging must be given the greatest consideration due to transportation and product protection against any form of harm or infection to individuals and the environment. Through effective and standardized packaging, the quality of the products will be maintained through the transportation process and storage. Taking precautions for transportation, storage, utilization and recycling, and disposal of packaging materials and unproductive goods, especially electronics, helps improve the environment quality towards the elimination of environmental pollution towards sustainability of numerous factors in terms of environment and commercial activities. It is the role of the government to facilitate these factors and policies. Future Research Recommendation With improved technology in terms of packaging and protection of goods, there is usually a need for future studies on how to control the packaging of newly produced products in the market. Different manufacturers produce different types of goods, and suitable research needs to be conducted to ensure that goods are transported securely against any harm. Improvement of packaging and protection of goods needs to be improved against any form of health and standards breach (Kalpana, 2019). The aspect must be facilitated by the government and manufacturers, especially from the counterfeit products that might package their products under other manufacturers’ seals and branding.
