There are need-motive-values theories, cognitive choice theories, and self-regulation theories (Levy, 2013). The need-motive-value theory focuses on personality traits, stable dispositions, and values that consist of four theories including Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory, Alderfer’s ERG theory, Herzberg’s two-factor theory, and job characteristics theory (Levy, 2013). The cognitive choice theories consist two theories including equity theory and expectancy theory (Levy, 2013). The self-regulation theories consist of goal-setting theory and social cognitive theories (Levy, 2013).
